Think you know all there is to know about Instagram Stories? Guess again!
Stories are a great way to share quick, behind-the-scenes glimpses of your life or business with your followers. But before you start posting stories, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
In this post, we’re going to go over the do’s and don’ts of Instagram Stories so that you can make the most of this powerful tool. Whether you’re a marketer, content creator, or just an everyday user, read on for some tips!
Do always add your location!
Instagram stories are a great way to engage with your followers, and while basic features like selfies and text overlays are essential, one thing is often overlooked: adding a location. Adding a geo-tag to your story can do more than just give folks an idea of where you are; it also helps to advertise the local businesses that they may not have otherwise discovered.
Adding a location to your story also makes it discoverable under the location tag search for new users. So if you’re looking to create an extra engaging Instagram feed, remember the importance of adding in location information whenever possible!
Do post between 3 and 5 stories a day!
Whether it’s a beautiful photo or a hilarious video, the key to crafting the best story is to make sure that it has some kind of engaging content. For me, this usually means posting between 3 and 5 stories a day.
With so many different elements to choose from to add to your stories, from stickers to polls and location tags, it can be tempting to try and cram as much as possible into each story. We have found that really focusing on one or two elements per story helps to craft more engaging stories overall.
Do add your stories to your Instagram highlights!
Saving an Instagram story to your highlights is as simple as tapping on its thumbnail at the top of your profile and choosing the “add to my highlights” option. Once an old story has been added to one of your highlights, it stays there forever.
This longevity means that you won’t lose valuable content after 24 hours, and followers and new page visitors will be able to view this content forever.
Highlights are also a great way to improve your first impression with new page visitors, as these are some of the first things they will see on your profile. Highlights are a perfect way to add to your brand and tell your brand’s story so take advantage of them!
Don’t use irrelevant and saturated hashtags!
Adding tons of irrelevant and saturated hashtags can not only make your posts look cluttered and spammy, but it can also have a negative impact on your engagement levels. Instead of drowning your posts in a deluge of hashtags, be selective and focus on including only those that are truly relevant to your content.
Additionally, try to use more niche hashtags rather than saturated hashtags; otherwise, your stories will simply get lost amongst thousands of others using those same hashtags.
Don’t batch-post all of your stories at once!
When it comes to posting on Instagram, you may be tempted to batch your stories all at once. After all, it can be time-consuming and tedious to post each story one by one. But if you want to really stand out on Instagram and get the most engagement, then you should avoid doing a mass post of your stories.
If you don’t, you might miss out on some great opportunities for engagement or new followers by spreading your posts too thin. Instead, why not try posting each story individually and spacing them out throughout the day?
Don’t forget to stay consistent with Instagram stories!
Staying consistent with your Instagram stories is absolutely crucial if you want to succeed on this popular social media platform. Whether you’re trying to build visibility for your business, broadcast special updates about your brand, or engage with your followers, a well-maintained Instagram story is key.
Some best practices for staying consistent on Instagram stories include regularly adding new content, tracking metrics to evaluate success, and responding thoughtfully to comments.
By keeping these things in mind and being strategic about where you spend your time and resources, you can ensure that your story stays fresh and relevant for your audience. So whatever you do, don’t forget to stay consistent! Your followers will thank you for it.
