What Is Mailshake?
Mailshake is a cold email and sales engagement platform aimed at small sales teams, founders, and agencies that want a simple, guided way to run outreach. Launched in 2015 and long marketed to the SEO and link-building crowd before pivoting toward sales, it now offers email sequences with automated follow-ups, A/B testing, a browser extension, a Data Finder for prospecting, SHAKESpeare AI copy generation, and - on its top tier - a phone dialer and LinkedIn automation for multichannel cadences. Its model is per-user: each paid seat connects one sending mail account, and billing scales with team size. That makes it philosophically closer to sales-engagement tools like Reply.io than to infrastructure platforms like Instantly or Smartlead. Mailshake also sells ready-to-use mailboxes as an add-on and includes training resources on all plans, reflecting its positioning toward teams newer to cold outreach.
Pros
- Genuinely easy to learn - the most guided setup of the tools here, with training and support resources on every plan
- Cheap entry point at $29/month for a solo sender starting an outreach program
- Sales Engagement tier adds a phone dialer and LinkedIn steps, giving small teams a real multichannel cadence in one tool
- Data Finder add-on ($19/month) provides basic prospecting by role, location, and company without a separate data tool
- Ready-to-use mailboxes at $12/month with automatic failover if a sending address runs into trouble
- Solid A/B testing and campaign analytics for its price point
Cons
- One mail account per paid user is the wrong architecture for modern cold email - proper inbox rotation across 10+ mailboxes means paying for 10+ seats, which gets expensive fast
- Deliverability tooling is thin compared with Instantly, Smartlead, or QuickMail - no serious native warmup pool or placement testing
- Send volume is constrained by the per-seat mailbox model, so it cannot scale into agency-level campaigns without awkward workarounds
- The prospecting data and AI copy features are convenience-grade, not a replacement for real list building or a copywriter
Mailshake Pricing
As of July 2026, Mailshake is priced per user: Starter at $29/month, Email Outreach at $49/month, and Sales Engagement (adds dialer and LinkedIn automation) at $99/month, with yearly billing reducing those to $25, $45, and $85 per user per month respectively. Each paid user can connect one mail account. Add-ons: Data Finder prospecting from $19/month ($17 yearly) and ready-to-use mailboxes at $12/month each ($11 yearly). Training and support resources are included on all plans.
Our Verdict
Mailshake is fine at what it was designed for: a small team, a couple of inboxes, guided sequences, and a dialer on the top tier. We do not run client volume through it because the one-mailbox-per-seat model fights the way cold email works now - you want many cheap rotating inboxes, not a few expensive seats. If you are sending a few hundred emails a week and want simplicity, it earns its $29-49. If you are scaling past two or three mailboxes, buy infrastructure instead.
Best for: Solo founders and small sales teams sending modest volumes from one or two inboxes each, especially if they want calls and LinkedIn in the same tool.
