What Is Woodpecker?
Woodpecker is a cold email platform from Poland, founded in 2015 by Matt Tarczynski, and one of the longest-running dedicated cold outreach tools. Its identity is deliverability conservatism: human-like send patterns, adaptive sending that adjusts to mailbox provider behavior, built-in bounce protection, and free warmup, aimed at senders who prioritize inbox placement over raw throughput. Its pricing model is the category outlier - instead of tiers or seats, Woodpecker charges per contacted prospect, with unlimited team members and unlimited connected email accounts included free. The platform covers condition-based campaigns (branching on opens, clicks, replies), a lead finder, LinkedIn outreach as an add-on, an agency panel with client management and white-label options, and unusually broad integration tooling including API, webhooks, an MCP server, and a CLI. Woodpecker positions itself for agencies and SMBs in Europe and the US that want predictable, compliance-friendly outreach rather than maximum volume.
Pros
- Usage-based pricing aligned with actual activity - you pay per contacted prospect, and unlimited team members and email accounts cost nothing extra
- Deliverability-first engineering: adaptive human-like sending, bounce shield, and free warmup and catch-all verification built in
- Condition-based campaigns allow real branching logic on prospect behavior, not just linear follow-up
- Agency panel with per-client management ($27/month per active client) and cheap white-labeling ($5/client)
- Unusually good developer surface - API, webhooks, MCP server, and CLI at a flat $20/month add-on
- Transparent multi-currency pricing (USD, EUR, GBP and more) with 33% off annual billing
Cons
- Per-contacted-prospect pricing gets expensive at volume - at $7 per 100 prospects entry rate, large campaigns cost multiples of a flat Instantly or Smartlead plan
- Every capability beyond core email is an add-on (LinkedIn $29/account, API $20, agency panel $27/client), so quoted totals grow quickly
- The interface is functional but dated next to newer rivals, and campaign setup is slower
- Lead finder credits are metered separately, and the database is shallower than Instantly's built-in 450M-contact offering
Woodpecker Pricing
As of July 2026, Woodpecker prices by usage rather than tiers: $7.00 per 100 contacted prospects at the entry level, with volume discounts up to 25% at higher commitment levels and 33% off on annual billing, shown in multiple currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, AUD and more). Unlimited team members, unlimited connected email accounts, warmup, and catch-all verification are included free. Add-ons: LinkedIn outreach at $29/month per connected LinkedIn account, integrations/API/webhooks/MCP at $20/month, agency panel at $27/month per active client, white label at $5/month per client, extra warmups $5/mailbox, and provisioned mailboxes from $4-6/month. Lead Finder credits start at $10 for 500.
Our Verdict
Woodpecker is what we would call the careful choice: its sending behavior is conservative by design, and campaigns run through it tend to have clean bounce and spam profiles. The free unlimited inboxes and team seats are a real cost advantage for small operations. The catch is arithmetic - per-prospect pricing plus stacked add-ons means volume senders pay substantially more than on flat-rate platforms, so we size it to clients contacting a few thousand prospects a month, not tens of thousands. Solid, honest tool with a clear ceiling.
Best for: Agencies and SMBs running moderate-volume, deliverability-sensitive campaigns who prefer paying per prospect contacted over flat platform fees.
